Coon’s at 509

Friday, December 26th, 2008

We had a raccoon family at 509 Davis St.  They tore through the flexible heating ductwork in the attic.

I called Pesky Critters to have them get rid of them.  Gary here has one of them trapped.

The Re-Gifter

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

We went to the Vineyard Church with our friends to see the Re-Gifter. It was really well done. One of the characters in the play is misunderstood and makes a lot of things out of trash.

spoiler:
He builds a nativity scene out of trash. Here’s a picture of Jesus, Mary and Joseph:

Matthew sang in a beautiful church just north of Cincinnati off I-75.  The boys wore their robes for the Christmas Concert.

Crappy books are among us

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

So I realize that everyone has an opinion and for some strange reason, everyone else’s opinions don’t match mine.

But I’m in this guys Book Club and the books that were proposed IMHO were really crappy and boring. I guess I realize that I really like to read business books, software development books and self-help books. I don’t get that much enjoyment from reading fiction. I think I’d rather watch it on TV.

I signed up for Audible.com because I didn’t want to spend the $27 on Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell, but the funny thing about it is that the audio book is 7 hours long!!! 7 hours? Good grief, that’s a whole work day. It would take me 7 hours to read that on my own??? Maybe that’s why I don’t have time for fiction books, it would suck all of my much needed Guitar Hero time away from me.p

Walking to lose weight

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Walked around the mall today. It’s good to start losing some unneeded weight.

Verizon store story and the new blackberry storm — Attractive salesperson. A buddy of mine started grilling her about when Verizon is going to offer an Android phone. Like she cared. It reminded me of the episode where Jerry invites Kramer and the girl he’s dating to come see his bit when Talent Scouts are watching the show. She heckles him and he freezes up. He asks why she did it and asked her how she’d like it if he came and heckled her at her work. Moral — think about what other peoples jobs are like.

BTW, the touch screen is pretty sweet and I had the same reaction as the guy on TV. The whole screen is a big button. Not just a touch screen, but a pushable screen.

Gingerbread House Competition

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Check out the Cincinnati House of Hope. Money goes to the Shriners Hospital. It turns out our neighbor (Paul Bartel) played violin there.
